American Canoe Association (ACA) Assessments & Training
The ACA skills assessment system is designed to clarify the paddler's path of progression, identify skill and knowledge levels at the time of assessment, and assist in risk management decisions for sea kayakers. The levels indicate an increasing level of skill, knowledge, seamanship, and sea kayaking experience. Search for training, or for a more detailed look at specific skill sets, see the assessment outlines for each level at the ACA website.
The American Canoe Association is the oldest and largest nonprofit agency in the country representing the interest of paddlers. It supports conservation and river access efforts, educational programs, water safety instruction, athletic competition, and more. Recognized for its high standards in instruction, the ACA offers developmental workshops and certification courses for aspiring instructors.
